Deck the Cards!

Holiday Cards. Loved by the festive, disdained by the Scrooges (and most husbands). I'm sure you can guess which category I fall into. In my humble opinion, October through January are, by far, the best days of the year. No matter what holidays you celebrate, you cannot deny the changing of the seasons have a special magic and nostalgia to them. It only makes sense to attempt to bottle that magic with a beautiful photo and card to send to friends and family (the non-Scrooges, that is!).

Here are a few reasons I have encouraged (forced?) my little family into this holiday card tradition:
  • The memories (duh!). There is nothing better than looking back to see how your family has grown and changed. Of course, you can't think of all of the ups, downs, big moments that happened between each card. Our very first Christmas Card will always make me think of my mom, who was on the other side of the photographer (Aunt Laura of Oh, Tannenbaum Photography, of course) making TJ smile that smile.
  • The tradition. Let's get this out of the way. I am basic. The basic-est. So pretty much the day after I found out I was pregnant, I started dreaming of all the holiday traditions our family will take part in. There may or may not be a spreadsheet... Anyway! Traditions were important to me growing up and I can already see how important they are becoming to our family, especially around the holidays. It brings us together, because we have committed to doing it every single year.
  • The beautiful photos of your family. Sure, you can go with a text-based card, but nothing says holiday card like your family all dressed up with no where to go but to take a picture. And if you work with a great photographer (*cough* Oh, Tannenbaum Photography *cough*) you don't just get one photo for your card, you get multiple to choose from! And the extra can get shared on social media or printed and framed. And trust, I get it. If your family includes a little one, the sheer pride you will feel after accomplishing getting them dressed, to smile and not to play in mud before the photos are done, is worth it.
  • Your family will thank you. Y'all let's face it. The days are long, but the years go by fast. It's hard to keep up with every single person you love and care about. I kick myself every year that the only time I see my Uncle Steve is Christmas Eve and I vow that I'll change that the following year. While a card can never, ever replace quality time with loved ones, it's a lovely gesture to, at the very least, say, "Hey there! We're still alive! Barely!" (Kidding...)

So did I convince you? Where does one even get started on getting a holiday card together?! Weeeell, well, well. Lucky for you, dear reader, ya girl is running an awesome deal with aforementioned Oh, Tannenbaum Photography called Deck the Cards! For $50, you and your family get 3-5 beautiful photos, one custom holiday postcard design (for print or digital!) and boom. A new tradition is born!

There are a limited number of Deck the Cards spots available, so don't wait! Shoot me an email at christina@catecreative.com for more information and to check our availability!

Happy Holidays! (Yes, it's September. No, I don't care!)
